Proof of residency
Per the city's Landfill & Resource Recovery Center page, you need a valid Virginia driver's license showing your primary Virginia Beach address. Without one, bring a photo ID plus a recent utility bill, rent receipt or check draft with a matching name. Digital IDs aren't accepted, and the resident named on the ID has to be there.
Vehicle and trailer rules
- Only residential vehicles: privately owned non-commercial cars, station wagons, passenger vans, minivans or unmodified low-sided pickups
- Not allowed: ladder racks, commercial signage, work equipment, cargo vans or panel vans
- Trailers must be under 10 feet with no dump bed. Trailers carrying landscaping equipment aren't allowed, and trailers can't bring brush or branches because of fire risk.
