Household sharps are free in proper containers, up to 3 a day.

Not accepted in the garbage

Lithium-ion batteries, fuel, ammunition, paint and solvents, household chemicals, pressurized tanks, fire extinguishers and liquids can't go in with the garbage. The bottom line

Keep light loads under 650 pounds, haul yard waste on a weekend, and strap everything down. Compare Tacoma and Pierce County.

Hauling it yourself? If the load won’t fit in the truck bed, a 6×10 ft open-rail utility trailer or a 4×8 ft folding trailer (it folds upright to store in a garage) can cost less than a couple of hauler trips. Tie everything down with ratchet tie-down straps; many sites charge extra for loose or uncovered loads.
