Different destination, different row
Brush, leaves, and grass are often ground or composted, while household trash is buried or hauled to a landfill. Fee sheets reflect that split with separate rows. One row may be lower, one may be higher, and either one may have its own minimum. Read both. Do not assume organics are the cheap line. Some sites price them higher because of hauling, and some price them lower to encourage sorting. The only way to know is the current sheet or a phone call. Ask whether stumps, sod, and large logs are on the yard-waste row or on a third row.
Contamination moves you off the row
The yard-waste price, whatever it is, depends on a clean load. Bags of trash, treated lumber, plastic netting, and dirt-heavy sod can push the load onto the trash row or get it refused. Ask what the site allows inside a yard-waste load: paper bags, no bags, limbs under a stated length, no stumps. A cheap-looking organics line that you lose because of one treated board is not a savings. Sort before you are on the scale. If you have both materials, ask whether two tickets are possible or whether the whole vehicle will be classed as trash.
Say the word that matches the sheet
Use the site's category name at the window. If the sheet says brush, do not say trash and hope they notice the branches. If the sheet says clean green waste, mention that you removed bags and metal. Ask which row they selected before you unload. The receipt should name that row. If you meant to use yard waste and the receipt says household trash, ask why while you are still at the window. There may be a contaminant you can still pull off.
Before you go
- Read the yard-waste row and the trash row as separate lines.
- Ask what contaminants move a load off the yard-waste row.
- Sort the load to match the row you want.
- Confirm the row at the window and check the receipt.
Quoting a neighbor's organics price and then arriving with treated wood in the brush.
Questions people ask
Are stumps yard waste?
Ask that site. Many price stumps apart from leaves and small brush, or they refuse them. Do not assume the brush line includes a root ball.
Do paper lawn bags change the price?
They change acceptance first. If bags are required or forbidden, follow that rule. Ask whether bagged and loose yard waste share a row.
Search Dumpmapper by ZIP code or city, then call the site before you load the truck. Hours and accepted materials change.
