Miami-Dade Trash and Recycling Centers: 13 Locations, Hours and Who Can Use Them

Miami-Dade's Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers (TRCs) are free drop-off sites for residents who pay the county's waste fee. The license scan at the gate decides whether you get in, so check eligibility before you load up.

Who can use them

According to the county's Miami-Dade Trash and Recycling Centers page, only residential waste fee customers in unincorporated Miami-Dade and in Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Opa-locka, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles Beach and Sweetwater may use the TRCs. The City of Miami, Miami Beach, Hialeah and others aren't on the list. An attendant scans your Florida driver's license or ID to match the address to an eligible account. If it doesn't match, submit the county's TRC Access form.

What you can bring

  • Household trash and tree and yard cuttings
  • Construction and demolition debris: up to 3 cubic yards per customer per day (a pile no bigger than six 96-gallon carts)
  • At most centers: up to 4 standard car tires and white goods such as stoves, fridges, water heaters, washers and dryers

Food and kitchen garbage is prohibited. Some centers don't take white goods or mattresses, and some take electronics, cardboard or fencing, so check the center listing first. See estimating cubic yards.

Oversize vehicles

Not allowed: vans over 11,000 pounds GVW, pickups over 15,000 pounds GVW, and trailers with a bed bigger than 10 feet long by 6 feet wide by 6 feet high. The county's alternatives are a compliant vehicle, a bulky waste pickup through 311, or the North Dade or South Dade landfill at the per-ton fee. Estimate that with the dump fee calculator.

Hauling it yourself? If the load won’t fit in the truck bed, a 6×10 ft open-rail utility trailer or a 4×8 ft folding trailer (it folds upright to store in a garage) can cost less than a couple of hauler trips. Tie everything down with ratchet tie-down straps; many sites charge extra for loose or uncovered loads. Bag loose debris in 55-gallon contractor bags so it’s quicker to unload.
