Hillsborough County Community Collection Centers: 10 Free Cubic Yards a Year

Hillsborough County's Community Collection Centers (CCCs) take bulky waste, appliances, tires, paint, electronics, batteries and recycling. County solid waste customers get a yearly free allowance that resets October 1.

Locations and hours

All five are open Monday to Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the county's Hillsborough County CCC page:

  • Alderman's Ford, 9402 County Road, Plant City
  • Hillsborough Heights, 6209 County Road 579, Seffner
  • Northwest County, 8001 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa
  • South County, 13000 U.S. Hwy 41, Gibsonton
  • Wimauma, 16180 W. Lake Drive, Wimauma

Checked October 2026. Hours, fees, residency rules and accepted items change, sometimes with little notice. Call the site or check its official page before you load up.

The 10-cubic-yard allowance

Residential customers get 10 cubic yards a year of bulky waste and appliance disposal, paid for through the annual assessment. The county compares that to a vehicle pulling a loaded double-axle trailer. A loaded pickup is about 2 cubic yards. Once you've used it, you pay standard commercial disposal at a county transfer station or Southeast County Landfill, or wait for the reset on October 1. Ask the attendant or call (813) 272-5680 to see what's left. Tires are limited to 12 a year. Track volume with estimating cubic yards.

What to bring

  • Bulky waste, appliances and tires: county solid waste customers only. Bring a photo ID showing the property owner's Hillsborough County residential address and a printed or digital copy of the current tax bill.
  • Batteries, paint and electronics: any county resident with a photo ID.
  • Recyclables: any county resident, no ID needed.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required. Businesses can't use CCCs.

Residents of the incorporated cities (Tampa, Temple Terrace, Plant City) who pay their city for waste service should use their city's options for bulky items and tires.

Unloading rules and HHW

Everything is unloaded by hand, with no dump trailers or self-tipping. You need to lift items at least 4 feet to clear the safety chain. Staff don't help. Wimauma and Alderman's Ford limit vehicle and trailer length to 23 feet. Household hazardous waste is taken on select Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.: the first Saturday at Sheldon Road (9805 Sheldon Rd., Tampa), the second at South County, and the third at Hillsborough Heights. Estimate costs beyond the allowance with the dump fee calculator.
