The main San Antonio landfills
- Covel Gardens Landfill (WM), 8611 Covel Road, San Antonio, TX 78252. Phone 210-623-8800. WM lists residential and cash customer hours as Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (WM's Covel Gardens page).
- Tessman Road Landfill (Republic Services), 7000 IH-10 East, San Antonio, TX 78219. It's one of the two sites the city uses for its Free Landfill Day (City of San Antonio Free Landfill Day page).
Both are privately run. We couldn't find a public gate-rate schedule online for either site, so call before you go and ask for the minimum charge, the per-ton rate and any added fees. Dumpmapper isn't affiliated with either company.
Published San Antonio-area prices
Texas Disposal Systems publishes rates for its Garden-Ville brush sites (Texas Disposal Systems gate rates):
| Site | Material | Published rate |
|---|---|---|
| Garden-Ville Evans Road, 7561 E. Evans Rd., San Antonio | Brush only | $85/ton, 1-ton minimum |
| Garden-Ville SARA, 1280 FM 1516, Converse | Brush only | $80/ton, 1-ton minimum |
Both sites list a $300 contamination fee for brush loads that contain trash, dirt, treated wood or other unacceptable material. For comparison, TDS's own landfill in Creedmoor, near Austin, publishes $60 a ton plus fees for municipal solid waste, with a 2-ton minimum. That's a long drive from San Antonio, though.
For construction debris, Beck Landfill in Schertz is a Type IV site that takes construction and demolition waste but not household trash.
Prices checked October 2026. Fees change, often at the start of a fiscal year, and the scale house has the final word. Call ahead before you load up.
Free bulky waste collection centers
If you pay the city's environmental fee on your CPS Energy bill, the City of San Antonio's four bulky waste collection centers are free (City of San Antonio bulky waste centers page):
- Bitters, 1800 Wurzbach Parkway
- Frio City Road, 1531 Frio City Road
- Culebra, 7030 Culebra Road
- Rigsby Road, 2755 Rigsby Road
Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. Bring a recent CPS Energy bill and a photo ID. Limits are 4 cubic yards of bulky items and 1 cubic yard of construction material. The centers don't take household trash, brush or commercial loads.
San Antonio Free Landfill Day
Several times a year, the city lets ratepayers dump bulky waste for free at both landfills. The city's page lists the next date as Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 2027 dates are listed as February 13, April 10 and July 10 (City of San Antonio Free Landfill Day page).
Bring a photo ID and your most recent CPS Energy statement showing the solid waste fee, and tarp your load. Accepted items include appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpet, fencing, water heaters, toilets and up to six passenger car tires. Brush, construction materials, dirt, brick, lumber, roofing and sheetrock are not accepted. For more on events like this, see how to find a free dump day.
