Who can use them
The Nashville convenience center page says you need a Tennessee driver's license showing a Davidson County address, and you unload your own material. Commercial vehicles (including any with commercial advertising or commercial tags) and commercial waste aren't allowed. Household trash must be bagged. Yard waste, cardboard and electronics are banned from the trash under Metro Code.
What's free and what costs money
Free, once per day: 3 bags of trash (30 gallons max each) plus 1 bulk item, not counting mattresses, tires on rims or C&D. Recycling and compostables are also free, and so are foam (East only), electronics up to 100 pounds (East, Ezell, Omohundro), household hazardous waste up to 15 gallons or 100 pounds (East and Ezell), and off-rim tires (East and Ezell, 4 a month).
Fees:
- Less than 1 cubic yard (no higher than the truck bed): $10, up to 2 visits a day
- 1 to 8 cubic yards: $20 per cubic yard. No C&D, no trailers over 12 feet, and no cargo vans or trailers at Anderson.
- Tires on rims: $5 each (East and Ezell, 4 a month)
- Mattresses and box springs: $12 each (East, Ezell, Omohundro, 4 a month)
- C&D material: $20, up to 2 cubic yards, Omohundro only
Metro accepts cash (except at Omohundro), check and cards. Card payments carry a 2.8% fee with a $1.95 minimum. Check your yardage with estimating cubic yards from a pile, or use the dump fee calculator.

- AmazonCommercial heavy-duty 16-mil poly tarp: Covers the load so nothing blows out on the highway, and helps you avoid the uncovered-load fee many sites charge.
- Rhino USA 1-inch ratchet tie-down straps (4-pack): Holds the tarp and bulky items like furniture in place in a pickup bed or trailer.
- Wells Lamont 3300 leather-palm work gloves: Most drop-off sites are self-unload, so protect your hands from splinters, nails and sharp edges.
Hauling it yourself? If the load won’t fit in the truck bed, a 6×10 ft open-rail utility trailer or a 4×8 ft folding trailer (it folds upright to store in a garage) can cost less than a couple of hauler trips. Tie everything down with ratchet tie-down straps; many sites charge extra for loose or uncovered loads.
