How a ZIP Code Search Works

A ZIP code search shows disposal sites mapped near that code. It does not prove you are eligible to use them. Confirm boundaries, materials, and hours with each site.

What you are actually querying

When you search Dumpmapper by ZIP code, you are asking which listed sites fall near that code so you can see them on a map. The search helps you build a short list. It does not apply the site's residency rules, and it does not know what is in your truck. A site inside your ZIP code may still refuse your waste type or your vehicle. A site just outside the ZIP code may be the one your county expects you to use. Treat the results as geography. Listings can be out of date, so confirm with the site before you load.

Why the right ZIP can still feel wrong

ZIP codes are mail areas. Service areas are set by cities, counties, and districts, and those lines do not always match the mail. A code can also cross a river or a county line. If the results look too far away or strangely close, search the city name as well and compare. Try the ZIP code of the address where the waste was generated, not only the code where you sleep, if those differ. Then call the likely site and ask whether waste from that address is accepted. The map cannot finish that question for you.

Use the result to make a better call

From the list, pick two or three candidates and ask each the same questions: materials, vehicle, proof, and whether your origin is inside their area. Write down who said yes. If a listing's hours or address disagree with the phone call, believe the site for the trip and submit a correction so the ZIP search gets better. Do not visit five gates with a full truck to see who waves you in. The search did its job when it gave you someone responsible to call.

Before you go

  1. Search Dumpmapper with the ZIP code where the waste was generated.
  2. Compare with a city search if the results look geographically odd.
  3. Call each candidate about materials, vehicle, proof, and origin.
  4. Follow the site's answer, and correct the listing if it was stale.

Assuming a site inside your ZIP code must accept you, or that a site outside it cannot.

Questions people ask

Which ZIP should I type if I am helping a relative?

Search the code for the address where the waste came from, then ask the site whether that origin is allowed. Your home ZIP matters only if they say the driver's address is the test.

Why did a closed site appear?

Listings go out of date. A search can still show a place that has changed hours or stopped taking self-haul. Confirm with the site and send a correction if the listing is wrong.

Search Dumpmapper by ZIP code or city, then call the site before you load the truck. Hours and accepted materials change.
