The Devlin Road Transfer Station, formally the Devlin Road Recycling & Transfer Facility, is at 889 Devlin Road in American Canyon, at the southern end of Napa County. It's often described as a Napa dump, but it's actually in American Canyon, not the city of Napa. The facility handles trash from Napa, American Canyon, Vallejo and southern unincorporated Napa County, and it's open to self-haulers seven days a week. On the same property you'll also find a buyback recycling center and a household hazardous waste facility.

Who runs it
The facility belongs to the Napa-Vallejo Waste Management Authority, a public agency whose audited financial statements list the Devlin Road Transfer Station among its capital assets. Day-to-day operations are handled by Northern Recycling Operations & Waste Services, which took over in 2007 and added an outdoor area for sorting mixed construction and demolition loads. It's a busy site: the authority reported about 264,500 tons coming through in fiscal year 2022–23. Trash is loaded into trucks here and sent to Potrero Hills Landfill in Suisun, in Solano County.

The $48 minimum covers up to 1,000 pounds of garbage or mixed construction debris, so a heavy load of up to half a ton costs the same as a few bags. The discounted rates for clean dirt and clean concrete only apply if the loads aren't mixed with other material.
What's free at Devlin Road
- Mattresses and box springs. The facility's web page says up to three per visit are free, with a fee for extras; the July 2026 rate sheet lists two pieces at no charge. Plan on two free and ask about a third. Mattresses mixed into a garbage load are weighed and charged with the load.
- Latex paint, up to 5 gallons
- Used motor oil and filters, up to 20 gallons
- Antifreeze, up to 5 gallons
- Car batteries and household batteries
Recycling on site
Devlin Road sorts mixed C&D and self-haul loads to pull out wood, carpet, plastics and metal, and a new C&D processing building is under construction. Carpet and carpet pad are sorted and sent off for recycling into new products, and mattresses and box springs are recycled too.
Buyback & Recycle Center
Next door at 889B Devlin Road, the Buyback & Recycle Center pays for CRV beverage containers and scrap metal. It's open Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., (707) 258-9018. On Sundays, the same hours apply for dropping off recyclables only, with no CRV buyback. The drop-off side takes aluminum, tin, plastics, glass, flattened cardboard, mixed paper, cooking oil and motor oil. It doesn't do secure document shredding.

If you have a City of Vallejo coupon for the Devlin Road facility, you need to book a drop-off appointment online through the operator's website first.
Tips for a smoother visit
- Tarp and tie down your load. It's required by law, and the uncovered-load charge is $19.
- Bring ID if paying by card. Staff check it for every card payment.
- Separate clean concrete, asphalt or dirt to get the lower rates.
- Keep mattresses out of your trash load so they're counted as free pieces, not charged by weight.
- Watch holiday hours. The station closes on Easter Sunday as well as the usual winter holidays.
