Which "Airport Road" station is this?
Several local dumps sit on roads named Airport Road, including a small refuse collection center in Tennessee. But the facility actually named Airport Road Recycling & Transfer Station is Snohomish County's station in Everett, a full-service county transfer station. That's the one this page covers.

Airport Road Recycling and Transfer Station hours
Both the garbage area and the recycling area are open 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day. The station closes on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The county asks customers to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing so there's time to weigh and unload. You unload your own vehicle, and the county doesn't lend brooms or shovels, so bring your own if your load needs sweeping out.
The county's website shows a live entrance camera and a chart of typical traffic levels, which is handy for picking a quiet time.

These rates took effect January 1, 2026. Tires are accepted at regular garbage rates: up to five per customer per day, passenger car and pickup size only.
The county also has a Hard to Handle fee for loads that need special unloading, slow down operations or pose safety risks. If you're bringing something unusual, call ahead.
How to pay
A credit or debit card is the county's preferred method, but only Visa, Mastercard and Discover; American Express isn't accepted. The cardholder must make the purchase. Cash works (no cash back). Checks must be pre-printed with a check number and need a driver's license, military ID, passport or state ID. Cashier's, traveler's and counter checks aren't accepted.
Vehicle time restrictions
Large vehicles that need to be unloaded by hand can slow the lines, so the county keeps them out during the busiest part of the day. Before 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and before 1 p.m. on weekends, these aren't allowed:
- Trailers longer than 18 feet that require manual unloading
- End-dump trucks longer than 30 feet
- Dump trucks still towing a pup trailer
- Cargo vans longer than 26 feet that require manual unloading
- Open-top containers on rolling chassis, or containers that must be top-picked
- Vehicles with containers over 25 feet that have no hydraulic dump system
- Non-hydraulic semi-trailers from 30 to 53 feet, which also need six hours' notice
Hydraulic dump vehicles are allowed any time.
What you can bring
- Household garbage and bulky items at the per-vehicle rate
- Residential recycling in the recycling area (it's limited to residential customers)
- Scrap metal, including clean, empty, open metal containers, recycled at no charge
- Rubble such as asphalt, brick, concrete, dirt, sod and rock, accepted as garbage only
- Dried-out latex paint, or latex paint hardened to an oatmeal texture with hardener or kitty litter
- Tires, up to five a day
Small amounts of cold, double-bagged ash, and pet waste or small dead animals (10 pounds maximum, double-bagged) are also accepted under the county's special preparation rules.
What Airport Road won't take
Snohomish County bans these at all of its facilities:
- Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and heat pumps. Call the Solid Waste Division at 425-388-3425 for options.
- Electronics. Use E-Cycle Washington (1-800-RECYCLE).
- Yard waste and clean wood. The county stopped accepting them on September 21, 2022; its website lists alternative drop-off locations.
- Dangerous or moderate-risk waste, liquid paint, and containers that held flammable liquids (take these to the hazardous waste station below)
- Asbestos, medical waste, liquid waste, contaminated soil, industrial ash, compressed gas canisters and tanks, major vehicle parts, septic waste and rodent-infested loads
Site safety rules
The county posts a short list: no bare feet, alcohol, smoking, cell phone use or roughhousing. Animals and children under 12 must stay in the vehicle.
