The Regional Transfer Station is at 3501 W 18th Street, at the end of West 18th Street in Port Angeles. The city lists garbage hours of Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it's closed Sundays and legal holidays. Customers unload inside a 17,000-square-foot building, and the waste is compacted and shipped to Roosevelt Landfill in eastern Washington.

Appliances must be empty with doors removed (or loaded so staff can inspect them quickly). Lawn mowers need oil and fuel drained, and metal drums must be cut in half or opened with holes in the sides. Contractors hauling demolition debris or asbestos need an approved waste disposal application first.
The Regional Transfer Station also has a free household recycling center before the scales. Its Moderate Risk Waste Facility, at the same address, takes household hazardous waste free on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. TVs, computers and mercury lighting aren't accepted at the transfer station and go through state recycling programs instead.
