Weekend Rows on a Disposal Fee Sheet

Some fee sheets price a weekend or after-hours visit differently from a weekday. Others do not. Read the sheet for a separate row instead of assuming Saturday costs more or costs the same.

Look for a day-of-week note

Read the posted fee sheet from top to bottom and look for words about weekends, Saturdays, Sundays, evenings, or holidays. If no such note exists, do not invent a weekend surcharge. If a note exists, read which materials and which customers it covers. A resident minimum and a commercial rate may treat the weekend differently. Ask the site to confirm that the sheet you are holding is the one in effect this month. Search Dumpmapper by ZIP code or city to see sites on a map. Listings can be out of date, so confirm weekend rules with the site. A pin that says open does not tell you whether the weekend row applies.

A busy Saturday can cost you time without changing the rate. A quiet Saturday can still use a weekend row if the sheet says so. Price the visit from the sheet, then decide whether the wait is worth it for your schedule. Ask whether a weekday appointment, if the site uses appointments, is billed on the weekday row. Ask whether a load that arrives before the weekday cutoff and leaves after it uses the earlier or the later rule. Those edge cases are where people feel surprised. The attendant can explain the sheet's rule if you ask before you unload.

Put the day on the ticket check

When you receive the ticket, look for the rate name. If you came on a weekday and the ticket uses a weekend row, ask. If you came on a weekend and the ticket uses a weekday row, ask too, in case the savings is a mistake they will correct later. You want the row that matches the published rule for that day. Keep the ticket with the date visible. If you are comparing a weekend self-haul with a weekday hauler, use the row that matches the day you would actually go.

Before you go

  1. Read the fee sheet for a weekend, evening, or holiday note.
  2. Ask which customers and materials that note covers.
  3. Do not assume Saturday costs more when the sheet is silent.
  4. Check the ticket's rate name against the day of your visit.

Skipping a weekday trip to save money you only imagined, or being shocked by a weekend row that was printed on the sheet.

Questions people ask

Does Sunday follow the Saturday rule?

Only if the sheet says so. Some sites are closed. Some use a different note. Ask about the exact day you plan to go.

If the gate is open late, is that the after-hours rate?

Ask. Extended hours and a different rate are separate questions. The sheet, not the fact that the gate moved, tells you which rate applies.

Search Dumpmapper by ZIP code or city, then call the site before you load the truck. Hours and accepted materials change.
