This guide covers Hall County, Georgia, home to Gainesville and Flowery Branch. Hall County in Nebraska and in Texas run their own separate programs. Hall County, Georgia, residents have three ways to drop off trash and recycling.

Which Hall County is this?

Several states have a Hall County. Everything below comes from Hall County, Georgia, and its official Hall County Solid Waste page. If you live in Hall County, Nebraska (Grand Island), or Hall County, Texas, check your own county or city solid waste office instead.

The 12 compactor sites

Hall County's compactor sites are for Hall County residents only. They're open Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Hall County Solid Waste page). The sites are Balus Creek, Blackshear Place, Candler, East Crescent Drive, Flowery Branch, Gaines Ferry, Gould Lane, Lula, Murrayville, Sardis Road, Tadmore and Wauka Mountain. The county's list of recycling locations links to each one.

A typical compactor site listing shows what the sites take: bagged household garbage, cardboard, newspaper, magazines, books, glass bottles and jars, plastics, tin and aluminum cans, used motor oil and clothing.

Hall County Recycling Center

The Recycling Center is at 1008 Chestnut Street SE, Gainesville. It accepts its listed materials Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., except observed holidays, and the drop-off area out front is open 24 hours a day, all year. The county asks you to empty and rinse containers and flatten cardboard. (Hall County Recycling Center page)

Hall County Landfill for everything else

The county sends anything that isn't recyclable or that won't fit a compactor to the Hall County Landfill. Landfill hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Sunday. The Solid Waste division's address is 1700 Oakbrook Drive, Gainesville, and its phone number is 770-531-6851 (Hall County Solid Waste page).

The county's page lists these item fees:

  • Mattresses and box springs: $10 each, on top of the load's weight charge
  • Appliances with Freon: $10 for a single unit, $12 each for multiple units
  • Tires: $3 to $30 each depending on size and whether they're on a rim. Nothing over 24.5 inches is accepted.
  • Paint recycling (latex, oil and solvent paint only): $25 per 5-gallon bucket, $5 per gallon

We didn't find a per-ton rate in the page text, so call the landfill for the weight charge, or estimate it with the dump fee calculator.

Prices checked October 2026. Fees change, often at the start of a fiscal year, and the scale house has the final word. Call ahead before you load up.
