What Free Cleanup Week is
According to Brunswick County's Free Cleanup Week page, the county's Solid Waste and Recycling Division holds two Free Cleanup Week events a year, typically the third full week of April and of September. During those weeks, Brunswick County property owners and residents can drop off all materials except regular household trash and hazardous waste at the county landfill for free.

Not included: regular household trash and hazardous waste. Businesses and commercial vehicles pay normal tipping fees.
Rules to know
- Proof of Brunswick County property ownership or residency is required. The county FAQ lists which documents count, and they must show your name and a Brunswick County address.
- Sort your load so each material can go in its own area.
- Expect busier days near the end of the week, and leave time for lines.
The rest of the year
The county says it accepts various items at the landfill year-round at no charge to residents and property owners. Check its Accepted Items and Tipping Fees page for the current list. Bagged household trash goes to the county's convenience centers, which are open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and have charged per bag.
